Are you searching?
by desib77 ini've noticed that many of you are athiest or agnostic.
is there anyone that is still searching?
do any of you feel a void when it comes to faith and spirituality?
-
Winston Smith :>D
Yep, still searching.
Looking at some oriental beliefs, researching the meaning of dreams, looking into how mythology has played a part in today's religions.
Looking at alternatives to Christianity for now.
But not digging to heavily into any one thing.
I'm just happy that I'm free of a pre-packaged mindset and belief system, and now have the freedom to look at how the rest of the world lives.
A loving god that I would be proud to worship would be happy that I am trying to be open and non-judgemental of the rest of his creation.

Yes or No----Do You Believe That JWs Are A Cult?
by minimus ini believe they are "cultlike" but i don't think they are a "cult"........and you?
-
Winston Smith :>D
Yes.
Steve Hassan's book Combating mind control defines them as a cult.
Steve admitted that he at first did not know they were a cult until he was exposed to the inner workings of the group from x-jw's, such as Dogpatch
And shotgun is correct as well. The WTS meets it's own definition of a cult as well:
"followers of men"
While a JW may not know who the current president of the WTS is, they make life altering decisions based on men's creed and not the bible;
i.e., acceptable blood compenents, alternative service, 1935 the end of the call to the 'little flock', shunning..., you get the idea.

Things You Have to Believe to Be a Republican Today:
by darkuncle29 inthings you have to believe to be a republican today:.
1. being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,.
unless you're a conservative radio host.

Despite all the voting going on, the govt keeps getting in.
SS
In my limited exposure to politics as of just getting out, I wonder how much good the two party system really does us. It seems candidates are influenced too heavily by party line rather than just using the ever elusive common sense and doing the right thing for people

Now it's my DOG too!
by cruzanheart inalright, this is getting downright farcical, in a very tragic sort of way.
i started a thread the other day about my mother, who is in the last stages of alzheimer's and just started hospice care.
today i found out that our dear old dexter, a basset of almost 13 years, our first child, has a cancerous tumor.

Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard....
by Pleasuredome indont you hate it when you hear a song and you cant quite work out the lyrics, and so you put your own words in instead?
some people have hung onto their own words for years only to embarrass themselves at some party or other.
here's an example of wrong lyrics that i cant get out of my head: .

I always thought it said, "Blinded by the light, Dressed up like a deuce, I roller in the night"...
I thought it said, "Wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night"
I knew it couldn't be that word, but I never what was really said.
Peter Gabrials 'She's soooo popular"
The way he sings it I thought it said:
"She's soooo fxcked ina head"
'How can they say that on the radio?', I wondered
I think I should have my hearing checked

Beware of the 'Voice of Strangers'...
by Winston Smith :>D inbeware of the 'voice of strangers'.... .
...unless she has a sexy voice, her phone number starts with 1-900, and it costs you $4.00 a minute to talk to her .
seriously, has anyone every called '900' numbers or the like for umm, the entertainment value?
-
Winston Smith :>D
I was young and innocent and a dub then and decided to call the number to see what it was....imagine my suprise!
xena
I guess as an innocent dub, who would guess that's what it was?
When I got married I had some buddies stay at my place before the wedding. They called some of these numbers without me knowing and I ended up with the bill.
Wolfy
That is pretty funny! Nice joke. They did it just to shock you I'd imagine?
First in line,
That's right, I heard something about that now that I think about it
She was used as a voice actor in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. She played a Haitian cocaine Gang queen.
America, the land of oppurtunity. Just look at her and the Hung Long guy from American idol
Paul, you either need to get out more or invest in some good sleeping pills
LOL....I agree. too funny.
I agree too. I gotta get out more, cause sleeping is a breeze.
Late night TV is a funny beast. Alot of 'make money selling real estate' infomercials, car ads, and Criag Kilbourne, which makes staying up that late all worthwhile
Paul...doing auditing, you be surprised how many lonely souls out there use company's credit card to call some "900" type of services. I had some fun auditing them
I bet. Did you ewver have to confront the people about the bills? I could imagine the look as someones face when this would be brought up.
